I believe we can find this answer in Jesus' own words found in Mark 12:30-31. Quote is from The Voice New Testament.
You should love the Eternal, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second great commandment is this: Love others in the same way you love yourself. There are no commandments more important than these.
He first developed His love relationship with His Father. Strong love brings strong trust. With that first commandment as a cornerstone, He was free to love all of mankind, even the ones who opposed Him. Because of His Cornerstone love relationship with His Father, He was able to love those who crucified Him. Remember, He cried out from the cross for His Father to forgive them.
Indeed, He walked on the serpents and scorpions of life (Luke 10:19) and put them under His feet. As long as we are in this present world, there will be those scorpions and serpents for us all to trample on. They didn't hurt Jesus because of His ability to Love the Father and mankind through every circumstance.
The end result was not in His "Gotcha" over His enemies. It was in the release of mankind from the grips of the satan gang. That was what Jesus was looking forward to (Heb 12:2). Reaching the lost was what He built His life around.
So, what is our Cornerstone? What have we built our lives around? And, what is the end result that we are looking toward?
Many blessings today, my friend.
