John 13:3-Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
Chapters 13-17 of John's gospel deal with the things that Jesus did and said in His last hours before his trial, crucifixion and resurrection. He knew explicitly His Father's will for Him because it had been mapped out by the Old Testament prophets. He knew that His Father's love for Him was greater than anything that He would ever go through. That combined knowledge gave Him the courage to act and pray as He did. Even though He knew the terrible things that were going to befall Him, He had the peace and strength to endure all of the hardships until God's Word came to pass just like He said that it would.
Those of us who call ourselves Christians and know that these are true events should take greater courage to enter into a realm of earnest prayer and earnest expectation. Let us boldly (Heb 4:16) come before the Father, knowing His will, and lay our passions before Him as Jesus did. Jesus used the Word of God to frame His prayers. Jesus used the Word of God to define His outcome. He prayed as if the world would pass away before one teensy bit of the Word failed to come to pass (Mt 5:18).
If we know that it is God's will that everyone come to repentance (2 Pet 3:9), then the only question we should have in our minds is--"Who do I know that is NOT saved." How about ALL of your unsaved loved ones? How about our government officials, from the President of the United States on down to our city alderman? How about the members of our Congress? How about the Presidential candidates? Who? According to one of the men who walked with Jesus, it is not the will of God that ANY should perish.
In Luke 10:19--Did God really say that WE had power over ALL the power of the enemy? Is this something that we frame our prayers around and define our outcome? Or have our prayers been framed by what we see and hear. If Jesus did that, He would have run away to the Himalayas and lived with the abominable snowmen instead of running to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray until strength came to face the cross. Even though no one had risen from the dead without another physical person praying for him before, Jesus KNEW that it was OK for Him to die. He framed His prayers and defined His outcome by what His Father said. The devil had NO authority over His outcome.
In light of that, do we know of any places where satan has the upper hand? Do we know of any places where we SHOULD BE framing our prayers and defining our outcome? Any devils in our government? Any devils trying to control and manhandle our Congress and city governments? Are there demonic powers running rampant in our neighborhoods, housing projects and city streets? How about our schools and our armed forces? Do we sit idly by and think that the job is too big for God or do we frame our prayers and define our outcome by what He has promised. Are we going to idly sit by and let drugs, divorce and suicide reign freely over those that God says He loves enough to die for? I say---ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
If know one else will rise up, stand in the Holy Place of the Word of God and lay claim to the promises of God, I will. I no longer want my future and the future of my family, country and servicemen defined by any foreign nation or any other ungodly source. I fully intend on allowing the Word of God to frame my prayers and define my outcome. Are you with me?
